Cabanon is a fully-refurbished bungalow that shares a landscape with the Dogtrot House. By merit of shared color, form, material, and landscape, Cabanon is a humble but integral part in this new composition of dwellings in Austin’s Heritage Neighborhood.
It is a thoughtfully arranged refurbishment of structure built in 1930, and takes a straight-forward approach to the arrangement of rooms in a limited space: doors and passages are aligned, windows centered upon their rooms, and ceilings vaulted. The effect is such that the whole seems greater than the sum of its parts, a small collection of spaces is now perceived as more generous.
